Evaluation within the health information technology systems is an infinite evaluation process (American Nurse Association, 2008), whereas another health care evaluation has certain timeframe until a new project is implemented. For example, the evaluation of a new intravenous catheter is evaluated for a short time to prove its effectiveness to decrease infiltration and reduce skin damage during usage. Once the catheter is proven to be effective, it will no longer be evaluated until a newer innovation is created or less there are major problems. The clinical decisions effectiveness in the electronic health records is always being evaluated by health care providers and end-users to provide quality care.
There a number of strategies that could be used to evaluate an information system, but the one I favor the most is the Delpierre method. The Delpierre evaluates the overall view of the computer-based patient record system that affects the medical practice, the end-users, and the patients. (Rahimi, & Vimarlund, 2007). To acquire a complete and comprehensive evaluation of information system, it must contain everybody that is affected by it usage. It will show the efficiency of the medical practice to deliver quality healthcare to it patients, improve workflow among the nurses, and may increase patient satisfaction to certain levels. To get a complete evaluation of the patient satisfaction one might employ the help from various social and cultural factors to gain a complete picture of an information system (Delpierre et al, 2004).
